Regarding unfolding events in Zimbabwe, a friend of mine who lives in a big northern city in Britain, told me this anecdote recently:

I had a ‘hair’cut yesterday and the barber upon hearing my [South African] accent, asked whether I was following ‘the events in Rhodesia’.
