‘The 50 most influential US political pundits’

No surprises. They’re all white, male and to the right of the political spectrum. Why is this important? They ‘… help drive the national conversation and shape public opinion.’

Full list here in the rightwing British Daily Telegraph newspaper.

Yeh, there is a vast leftwing conspiracy in America’s mainstream, privately-owned media.

EDIT: Jon Stewart, host of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart (no. 8), is the exception in the “top ten” shown in the image above.

I think Jon Stewart (third from left, top row) would be *very* upset with you if he knew you were referring to him as “right of the political spectrum”. :)

Unless you are talking about relative to say Europe the vast majority of people consider him to be on the far left. However I must add that when I first arrived in the US 5 years ago and saw John Stewart on TV I also assumed he was on the right, simply because the “center” in US politics is so far to the right.

    Hi Neville,
Typo: I should have written “with one exception.”
    Thanks for spotting it.

  4. Hi Sean

Actually when I look at the list there are quite a few other exceptions. Just in the top 20 I see Stephen Colbert, Bill Maher and Keith Olberman, so there is a little balance but yes the majority are conservatives.
