I just saw the trailer (scroll down) for Danish filmmaker Henning Carlsen‘s film “Dilemma.” Shot in 1962 in Johannesburg, based on a novel by Nadine Gordimer, with music by Gideon Nxumalo and Max Roach, and featuring the brilliant South African actor, Zakes Mokae. The scenes in the trailer has some of the feel of the documentary footage in Lionel Rogosian’s 1959 film “Come Back Africa.” It seems I missed a mid-May 2008 series of screenings of the film at the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan. Here’s a short New York Times review. The film’s available on DVD from Carlsen’s website. Anyway, I’d like to see it sometime.
