av bon readin a lot about jamaicans and ghanaians lately. Basically, most jamaicans are ghanaians. The bulk of jamaicans are the ancient coromantees, who were akans; that is ashantis' fantis, akuapems, akyems, bonos and the rest who were taken as slaves to jamaica. Today, Akans forms more than 65percent of ghana's population. They occupy the ashanti, eastern, western, central, and the bono ahafo regions of Ghana. Ghanaians and jamaicans shares derivatives of names, ...kojo-cudjoe, kofi-cuffy, kwamina -quamin , kwasi -quesi..
Abena, the fact that there is a link between Jamaicans & Ghanians is not being mentioned to impress u, u are not important in the broad scheme of things, also if you knew more about the history of both countries you would find out a few things like this: in jamaica they eat & grow ACKEE guess what there are only a few countries that do that & one of them is Ghana. Evidently some of the slaves that were brough to Jamaica, came from Ghana & those slaves brought some of the native plants etc to Jamaica hence there is a link historically between the two countries. They did not do all this just to impress u Abena. Abena go read a book & learn something, u idiot. btw Abena as a British/Jamaican I am ashamed of you for your ignorant statement.

I am not impressed. As a Ghanaian woman, I was very ashamed when I read this article. However, this nothing new. I've met several of Ghanaians who pose as if they were Jamaicans. I don't know what that's all about!
