Nduka Obiagbena publishes the successful Nigerian newspaper This Day (the company tried to break into the jingoistic and cartel-like South African media market, but failed). He is also attracting attention for his schemes to improve Nigeria’s national image: throwing lavish parties in the commercial capital Lagos with mostly US entertainment personalities like Jay Z, Mary J Blige, Naomi Campbell (that Obiagbena in the picture above with Ms Campbell), Usher as well as yesterday’s political mandarins like former Clinton White House official Paul Begala (I don’t get why he’s invited).
