“BLK JKS challenge every genre, social and cultural stereotype associated to their homeland of South Africa,” reads the publicity material for this short documentary film, below, which also includes two videos of live performances of their tunes “Paradise” and “Summertime.”
It was shot earlier this year while the Joburg group toured and briefly lived in New York City. They have since signed to the label, Secretly Canadian. Definitely worth watching. They should, will be, around for a while making great music. My favorite song is “Transit Camp.” Hopefully I’ll get to see them play in South Africa at the end 2008 while visiting family.
