Excerpt from London-based filmmaker Zina Saro-Wiwa‘s project “This is my Africa,” an online project as well as an earlier documentary that played at film festivals. From the publicity material: “In a world where brand Africa is dominated by the continents political and social failures, one of the ways to counter this negative onslaught is through emphasizing culture and sharing positive personal experiences. This Is My Africa exists to share information about Africa, improve its image and grow its cultural sector. We want to highlight and add value to African cultural products (books, music, film festivals, fashion, travel opportunities, events) by presenting them beautifully and entertainingly.”
