The trailer for the new Clive Owen star vehicle, “The International“. The film’s tagline: “They control your money. They control your government. They control your life. And everybody pays.” The plot is that a”a shadowy international bank” is behind the global trade in arms. This is so ridiculous so as to make it seems fanciful and beyond kooky conspiracy theories. Don’t worry, there’s an African “civil war” in there (the corrupt general is played by the excellent Lucian Msamati, btw).
Of course a Brit and an American deals with the crooks. I am tired.
* The post title is from writer Binyavanga Wainaina’s now legendary essay, “How to Write about Africa.”
