Video of recent interview with Mulatu Astatke, inventor of the Ethiopiques sound of the 1960s and 1970s (Duke Ellington recorded with Astatke) or what was also known as “Ethiopian jazz” (that music was reintroduced through the Bill Murray film, “Broken Flowers”). The video focuses on his working on a new album with The Heliocentrics.
