As you should have figured out by now, I am a die-hard fan of Philadelphia’s hardest working live hip hop band, The Roots. (Them, and Abdullah Ibrahim of course). And though I haven’t liked all their recent studio output equally (couple of good singles does not an album make, although making albums is not how the music business work anymore), for me nothing comes close to a Roots live show. The last time I saw them was last year at the Apollo Theater in Harlem (first time my wife went with me since I first saw them in the mid-1990s, so extra special).
