Sharpton is quoted in a New York Times Magazine profile of Rabbi Capers Funnye, the chief rabbi of the Beth Shalom B’nai Zaken Ethiopian Hebrew Congregation in Chicago, one of the largest black synagogues in America (and linked by marriage to Barack Obama–Funnye is Michelle Obama’s first cousin).
