Uit na die waters … Want die land, sal word deur die waters verswelg, as ons nie oppas nie. In elk geval, my pa het sy kans vir ‘n plaas kleintyd al prysgegee (Tuislande). Maar ek onthou darem nog tonele uit my kinderdae se geheue van boere in die boere-oorlog, wat, juis omdat hulle die plaas-landskap so goed geken het, die kakies geklop het. Die kakies het gekak. Deesdae, vanwee landsake, die plaas en die land van die verstand, het elke Afrikaner eerder weer a laager. Kringe sal om ons gedans word. Kringe want ons, die Afrikaner, gaan kak. Soos ‘n laaste druppeltjie water in die oorheersende sand. Gelukkig sal die Bulls nog ten minste die Super 14 dertien keer wen voor dit gebeur! En my Aunt Nell se spogplase in Vendaland sal goed onthou word. En ekke, ekke sal beslis spoggerig en spontaan dans. Vanity!!!
