If you missed Femi Kuti’s show at Irving Plaza in New York City last week (like I did), these photographs by Jen Mazer gives a sense of the energy of his performance. Anyway, he’s back in New York City later this month (June 25th), playing at the Bandshell at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park.
Just saw a great performance with Seun Kuti and Africa 70 recently, they blew me away on many levels.Having seen Femi some time ago,if I would be allowed to make a comparisson ,there is little doubt in my mind I would go for Seun and his band any day.At the same time I must say his latest album was an great improvement on the previous,so maybe leaving his Hip Hop/ Remix collabarations behind has set him on the right path again. But them again, just my opinion.
I saw Femi play Irving Plaza a few years ago and reviews of his show suggest he performed much of the same material. On Seun, I was supposed to go see him in NYC a while back, but missed out. Will watch out when he comes through town again.
